Hey there. I'm Powell.
I'm an award-winning journalist with a funny-sounding name. I'm passionate about storytelling in all its forms, and have tried most of them. Written word, video, podcasts, photojournalism - I've tried all of them, (check out the work section for examples) though putting words together into sentences is still my greatest challenge and biggest passion.
I'd rather have whisky than beer. I'd rather work with Oak than with Pine. I believe in always asking questions.
I believe you can communicate intelligently without dense jargon.
I believe if you want to make a point, you need numbers to back it up.
I believe in meeting deadlines.
I believe in short sentences.
I've worked as a paid journalist for the past seven years, starting as a freelancer and student journalist at the Daily Tar Heel at UNC-Chapel Hill. I currently cover the ACC for the Greensboro (N.C.) News & Record.
